Why use Kapiti IT?
We've been working in IT professionally for over 15 years and since we were kids, (30+ years now). We know everything there is to know across a wide range of IT services from hardware, software, wireless, smart home, security and anything you can think of. Your time is valuable, you could spend 5-6 hours trying to fix or setup your new piece of technology yourself, or you could book us and we'll get done within an hour or two.
Similar to calling a builder or a plumber, we carry all the tools and spare parts for common IT issues, to get you back up and running fast, or maybe you've got a big project or IT task you'd like us to help with, or complete for you. Some projects include wireless coverage outside, cabling new areas for cameras or Internet access points, creating an amazing smart home controllable from a dashboard, or simply buying, setting up and securing a new computer.
Further, we are totally upfront with you, if we are unlikely to be able to help, or the callout is going to take more than an hour or two, we will tell you before we visit, and can recommend local businesses that may be better to assist you instead. Remember, we come to you, so charge an hourly labour fee, not all jobs are suited to this. We'd much rather have you back for a future job, than to be hit with a high bill that you're not expecting 🙂
When can you come?
Chances are if you're reading this in the morning, we can fit you in today or tomorrow. If it's an emergency, for an additional fee we can guarantee same day service. We offer more availability from 4.30pm daily, as this is when you're home from work and is our most requested time, we also have coverage on Saturdays and Sunday mornings. Our online booking form only allows next day booking, so please give us a ring if you'd like to be fitted in earlier.
How much do you charge?
We charge a minimum of $95 per hour. Most jobs last 1-2 hours. We charge 1 hour minimum, then in 15 minute increments. We have no travel charge for clients living in Paekakariki to Te Horo Beach (SH1). For clients further North including Haetare, Otaki and Ohau we charge $25 travel fee. Other addresses further away are $45 - $65.
The only additional fee is for same day call outs which is a minimum of $165 per hour + travel fee. We offer a 24/7 callout service using our rapid response team.

Where is your shop?
We come to you, so there is no retail or repair centre. There is no drop off facility and our insurance does not cover the device outside your property. We care about your personal data and we will never take it away.
We can charge an affordable hourly fee as we don't have the overheads of real estate or utilities. This does mean we may not be the right IT provider for all those time sensitive jobs such as reinstalling operating systems (3-4 hours) or rebuilding computers (5+ hours), where a store may be a cheaper option as they can handle many jobs at the same time vs one person at your place. We will openly discuss this with you if we think your job will fit into this category.
What type of IT work do you do?
We are pretty cable with all IT work big or small, no job is too big or small for us, however we tend to stay well away from broken or damaged computers or phones. Further for hardware failures such as Windows booting and reinstalls, we may not be the best option for you as we charge an hourly fee vs a physical store that can handle many customers at once by dropping the device off for a fixed fee solution.
We are able to take a look and if it's a software failure, help, or atleast point you in the right direction for a one hour of our time, but unlikely we can fix such issues. Given worldwide shortage of parts, repairs are best done with an authorised repairer.
Our most common work includes booting issues, installing operating systems, upgrading RAM, disk cleanups, restoring lost or deleted data, assistance with software such as Office, Adobe, web browsers, email client configuration, wireless and slow internet issues, setting up new technology, smart home assistance, working with your ISP on issues, video conferencing, VPN and firewall changes, setting up and transferring mobile data, contacts.

What payment methods do you accept?
For your first callout please arrange cash, mobile eftpos, Paypal or a visa/mastercard for payment directly to your tech. Our tech iPhones can process card payments in real time. For repeat or regular clients we offer NET7 payments, or 7 working days after completion.
Some jobs may require two visits, or additional hardware to be purchased. We require payment upfront or in some cases a 50% deposit to secure these materials. Goods are the property of Kapiti.IT until full payment is received.
How does a callout work?
You'll book in real time using our tech's calendars. If there's a time slot, you'll see it. Most availability is in the afternoons, evenings and weekends. If no time slot is showing, or it's an emergency please call our friendly team directly and we'll fit you in.
We send an email and SMS reminder 24 hours before, and 3 hours. Please avoid cancelling less than 3 hours in advance or a $95 no-show fee will be applied. You must cancel via phone or email.
Time slots are a 30 minute window to allow for traffic delays. i.e. if you book 10-10.30, our tech will ensure they arrive within that time, so please ensure you're at the address mentioned on booking at that time. Techs try to come as early as possible. If a tech is running late we'll update you via SMS.
When the tech is on the way we'll try and send you an SMS, this is usually 10-15 minutes before arrival.
Your tech will use their phone while at your property to check job work notes, add any updates, additional parts or hardware needed to resolve your issue. Afterwards, any additional labour is added based on GPS time spent at your property, this tracks arrival and departure time.
You'll receive an invoice on conclusion of your first callout. Please arrange payment via cash, credit/debit card or Paypal. For repeat clients, you'll have 7 working days to complete payment. Usual late fees or interest may apply for overdue accounts so check our terms and conditions for full rundown.
Which areas do you service?
We offer free travel callouts for addresses in Paekakariki to Te Horo Beach (East of SH1) and everywhere in between including Waikanae and Reikorangi.
We charge a surcharge for other areas but regularly service, Otaki to Levin and Pukerua Bay to Wellington and everywhere in between. By arrangement we can travel further for longer jobs.
What big IT jobs do you do?
Some common jobs include trenching cable through back gardens, or installing a fleet of CCTV security cameras, replacing or upgrading commercial networking gear, installing smart home equipment, setting up access points for sleepouts or events, as well as public wireless for corporate events.
Where tasks require a licensed electrician to complete we have contacts with other local professionals who can assist us get the job done quickly. Further we have worked for ISPs and Chorus, so we know how to fix most Internet issues if you're not getting anywhere with your ISP support team.
